Thomas encountered the Hearth-Sleeper in a farmhouse where every member of a family had begun losing sleep, then reason, then the ability to distinguish waking from nightmare. The house remained intact, but no one inside trusted each other by the end. He brought the entity to the Vault only after burning nearly everything else they owned.
